Desert Moon Charon
Creator: Sheldon Chase
Desert Moon Charon is a game where you walk around trying to do what
you're supposed to do and end up dying. Or that's what happened to me, anyway.
The game, you see, is an attempt at simulating 3D in Klik n Play, a very-definitely-not-3D
game creator. The result is that you need a fairly hefty computer to run the game,
and you can only zap or be zapped in two dimensions.
This rule doesn't seem to apply to the space ships above you, however, as
the picture shows. Your character gets zapped to death, appears in the same place
and gets zapped to death again. The bushes do move in a 3D kind of way, though,
and the graphics are good, especially if you run the game in more than the 256
colours I used in this screenshot. The radar (not pictured) down the bottom of the
screen is also well done, and bares, I think, some relation to the game. Desert Moon Charon
means to be a good game, but more time has been spent on making the 3D effect than
making sure the game could actually be played.
